My Reflections on Netbooks

Hi my name is Melenaite I am a year 5 student at Glenbrae School and I am in Room 9. My teacher name is Mr.D. Nath

This year was exciting because I started using a chromebook as a tool in class. It was fun because we started doing our work on our chromebooks and it was faster than using books and pens.

As we had a chromebook we learnt many different things like Cyber Safety, Accessing the class site, blogging, keyboard shortcuts, using google applications like google presentation, creating new folders and documents, using tools, taking screenshots and using sumo paint.

I also learnt how to type faster with computers or chromebooks and I learnt how to insert  timetables and patterns.I also learnt how to split numbers and drawing on paper. I have learnt my Maths, behavior using the key competencies like, thinking, relating to others etc.I have sometimes taught little kids how to read, behave and how to play nicely.

I am also able to think about something then find information about it on different sites and answer questions about it. I am also able to blog my own work after it has been checked.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Manaiakalani Film Festival

On Wednesday 13 of November Glenbrae school went to Sylvia park for the Manaiakalani film festival.

First in the morning at school the bell had rang and everyone was in class by then and first we had a little morning tea and then we went to the toilet. Then we assembled in the hall. Then afterwards the bus arrived and we got in the green buses and we were off.

When we got there we got out of the bus and we walk up the escalator to the hoyts. When we were ready to go in we had comfortable chairs to sit on and we started watching films from other schools.

As we were watching it got to the last movie from our school and it was probably the best one and so as room 5 from our school again so it was pretty awesome watching them .

When it was done we had walked back down and we had waited a bit because the bus was not here yet but as soon as it arrived we got and we went back to school and had lunch.I felt very happy about that day.

During Maths game time I played this game on Sheppard software. It's called Pop up Addition. You could also subtraction,division and multiplication with this game. I had fun playing it.

WALT: Write a review of stores we read.

This story is about a girl named Sophia. She lived with her mum who could not walk and needed a wheelchair to move around at home.

While she was in her bed she was thinking of all her memories. It was very sad for her because her mum was in a wheelchair at home and Sophie had to do all the work that mum did.

Sophia also had a pony named Marcello. Marcello was put down by a Vet because it was too sick. Sophie and mum were there when Marcello was put down after they said their goodbyes.

I like this story because it talks about  memories and it is a very great story to read in your own time.

Walking School Bus

What is a walking school bus?

• A walking school bus is like a school bus except children would walk with an supervision to school and back home and a supervisions are adults volunteers, creating a safe and social journey to school.

• The supervisions will make sure that the children are OK and that they don’t get lost or kidnapped so there will be an adult in the front and one at the back so the children are safe.

• Most of the time the walking school bus is fun as a way to go to school except when it’s raining.

Taste Buds

Tasting your food brings out your saliva

And so does drinking hot tea, coffee or the juice of a guava

Sometimes you’ll brush your teeth so that those taste buds feel fresh

Tell your friends and everybody that your tongue is not in a mess

Everybody got thousands of cells so you'd better get brushing before it becomes trash

Brush your teeth every day and night

Use a good brush and scrape your tongue bright

Doubt that you will have any bad breath

So be happy because your taste buds are in good health

A Piece Of Paradise

A Piece of Paradise by  Leonie Thorpe

This story is about the Rain God and the Sun God. The Rain God looked down at the village and saw that they were a very happy village and the Rain God was proud of the stream that she had created.

One day they had a argument over whose food gardens were bigger and better. They decided to settle the argument by having a competition on growing food in their areas.  The prize for winning the competition was the four bright stars in sky known as the Southern Cross.

At the end of season none of them had any good crops to show each other because all the crops needed sunshine and rain. They agreed that they needed each for growing their crops.

The four bright stars were set up in the sky in the south.

The characters in his story are the Rain God and the Sun God.

This story takes place in the sky.

I like this story because it talks about the Rain God and the  Sun God and the Southern Cross Stars. This story  is very impressing.

Title: A Passion for Ponies

This article is about a girl named Chelsea that has a pony named Teddy. Everyday after school she would go to the paddock and play with her pony .She would give her snacks and  would keep her ponies water clean.Sometimes Chelsea would meet up with her friend Sarah who has a pony as well.

Sometimes on the weekend they would go to the pony club where they learnt about their pets and where they can do some jumping and courses.

I like this story because it talks about ponies and  I have always wanted to get one. I have learnt a lot about ponies.

Story Review

         Bean Rock

The story is about a  family that lives in Bean Rock Lighthouse but since there is only 4 rooms and a big family they can not fit there  so they had to move out but only one person stayed and his name was Hugh Brown he stayed there for nineteen years earning 150 and he stayed there to make sure that the light from the lighthouse hadn't gone off.

The characters in the story are Master of HMS,Hugh Brown,James Anderson,Father and Hayley.

The story takes place at Bean Rock Lighthouse.

I like this story because it very tells a lot about the Bean Rock Lighthouse and its a true story  and yes i have seen it at Rangitoto and it is very old place.
