Maths

Today we had maths as a whole class but also during maths we were getting observed by one of the mentors from the Manaiakalani. Today's maths problem was about shapes or known as geometry.

Our problem was called Carries Cube, Carries cube was made up of small cubes and was painted red, we had to find out how many of the original small cubes have 3,2 and 1 faces are painted red but also how many faces weren't painted red. I learnt the difference of shapes which was angles, corners, scale scalene and sides. This problem was a bit difficult to solve because we didn't really understand it but  we got some help and solved it.

This is our model that we used to solve it!!

This was our group solving the problem!!!

Maths Lesson in Room 7

Today in room 7 with the left over students we had a fun maths. For this maths lesson with Miss Stone we did shapes. In shapes we had to make a 3D shape using a template we could color it if we wanted,  so I did. Anyways we made our shapes given and it turned out good. After exploring a world of colorful shapes we had a chance to make one of our own 3D shape out of a grid. I made a cube. We had to find out the volume of the shape we had made using the cubed grid. The final total of my volume was 3x8 which is 27.

I had great fun doing this math activity...
Cheers :)

Maths Reflection

Image result for school bus

Maths Problem:

From Auckland to Waitangi is 229 kilometres. We left Auckland at 9.39 am and arrived at Waitangi at 3.31 pm. Remember we also made three stops before we arrived at Waitangi. How do the stops we made affect the travel time? What is your estimate for the average speed the bus was travelling? If the average speed of the bus is 80 km/h, what time would we have arrived at Waitangi if we didn’t make any stops?

Today we had Maths and for maths we only solved What is your estimate for the average speed the bus was traveling? this was part of the question and it was a bit challenging for me because I didn't quiet under stand it but I got help from Mr Greenwood and I am thankful for that because I would have been stuck on that question but I solved that problem and now I can move on to the next part of the question. I had fun solving this because my group worked as a team and solved it.
