Kiwi Can Reflection

Last Term we have been having kiwi can every Thursdays with Mr Numia and Miss Tuia. We always have fun doing different activities with them about fair play and honesty and also learning new things about accountability, Leadership/ Role model, Respect and making good choices. Sometimes when we did the wrong thing they would encourage us to do the right thing next time and we also learn from our mistakes. Everyone always has great fun in kiwi can and learn new fun things.!!

Volcanoe Eruption

My reading groups Kakapo and Pukeko had been learning about Volcanoes in the past weeks so we were really lucky to acctually create a Volcanoe but also erupting it.

We used these Materials:

1. Little Bottle
2. Baking Soda
3. White Vinegar
4. Clay
5. Dishwashing Liquid
6. Piece of Cardboard

First we got a piece of cardboard and placed the little bottle in the middle, then we used the clay to moled it into a shape of a volcano, while we were doing that some boys went out side and mixed red food coloring with white vinegar so when we explode it, it looks like lava.

Then we all went outside and put the volcano on top on the drain with the cardboard beneath it then we put baking soda inside the volcano with a little bit of dish washing liquid to make it foamy then added white vinegar, it was slowly coming up then it exploded. We did it a couple of times and then on one go we didn't add dish washing liquid but it just did the same thing but then the girls had a go and it just went everywhere.

We loved doing this and learning about volcanoes, we all learn't something new everytime we were reading or researching about it.

The Avengers

Today I feeling a bit board so I decided to read a book called The Avengers. This book is about super heroes Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, Ant Man, and wasp saving the world by fighting bad guys. One day thor's brother loki had always been jelouse of thor so then loki became the bad guy and once thor and the other super heroes found out they all went looking for him when they found him they got rid of him and then they decided to form a team called The Avengers. Then one battle took them to a frozen land and while they were fighting they spotted someone in the ice whitch turned out to be captain america so iron man carefully used his rays to melt the ice and when captain america woke up he became apart of the avengers and everyone was happy including the world.

Math Reflection

On Thursday, Mrs Raj and Miss Elia came in and observed my maths group on decimals. The Question we got was kind of difficult for me to solve but luckly one of my friends helped me understand it and when she started explaining slowly I started understanding how decimals are added and how they are converted into fractions. I also got over my fears of writing and explaining on the whiteboard how I solved the problem in front of the group. I am really lucky I learnt this because it will help me how to solve decimal problems at anytime.

Writing lesson

During the past few weeks my writing group has been learning about procedural writing witch relects to basic recipies, so our Teacher Miss Stone decided that we get into small groups because we are a big group and each group writes down or searches on the internet for easy fast potatoe cups. Since it was just Angelica and myself we decided to make just a regular potatoe cup recipe so here it is. All we had to do was write down the ingredients and instructions.

Ingredients:

• 2 large Russet baking potatoes
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 3 tablespoons butter, softened
• ¼ cup sour cream
• 3 tablespoons milk
• ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
• ½ cup cooked bacon, crumbled
• ¼ cup sliced green onions
• salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2. Rub potatoes with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper and poke a few times with a fork.
3. Microwave it for about 10 minutes.  or until a knife slides easily into the center.
4. Cool for 10-15 minutes.
5. Cut potatoes in half and scoop out the center leaving about ¼ inch around the sides.
6. Mash potatoes, butter, sour cream and milk together using either a potato masher or mixer.
7. Stir in half the cheese, half the onions and half the bacon.
8. Fill potato cups.
9. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top and bake for about 10 minutes until cheese is melted.
10. Top with bacon and onions and serve hot!

Our group had so much fun baking and learning about procedural writing and turns out the food was acctually good but all thanks to Miss Stone for assembling this together for us.

All the men standing in line

Holding their guns but not with a smile

1,2,3 Boom

The war has started but everyone is tired

A man in his tank using his gun, he see’s an

old man yelling for help

No one can see with dust in the air and when they

turn they scream with fear

The world is scared and not so safe, think before you leave this place, we see the guards with their guns

chasing people climbing gates.

Before they die there cold as ice, they say goodbye with tears of joy and pray to god for a wonderful time inside this earth.
